A water bill that jumps
A higher bill with no change in how you use water is often the first sign of a leak underground or in a wall.
Damp walls, ceilings or floors

Turn off every tap, appliance and irrigation system in the house. Write down the reading on your water meter, wait 10 minutes without using any water, then check it again.
